With unrivaled beach access, scenic views and outdoor firepit across two stellar properties, you may never want to leave the gorgeous confines of this lovely compound. 

It's the perfect retreat for a family with adult children or two couples who want their own separate space.  Barrett's Watch is close to the action  as less than a mile from the heart of Boothbay Harbor and across the road from scenic Barrett's Park with kayak access and a lovely little swimming beach. 

The Barrett's Watch property consists of two distinct, recently updated cozy cottages, both with extraordinary water views. Head up the landing to the the main home and enter into the gorgeous combo kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is bright and cheerful, with white appliances and plentiful counter space. The kitchen opens to a small dining room, boasting six wooden chairs around an oval table. You can also head out onto the outdoor deck for gorgeous water views or a glass of wine. 

The inviting living room offers many spots for comfortable reflection. A neutral rug grounds the space furnished by a comfortable soft yellow couch and two floral armchairs facing a large bay window. 

This home has two bedrooms, the larger of which features a queen bed covered in a muted green coverlet, light walls, wooden furniture, and hardwood floors. The second bedroom has two twin beds, perfect for the younger members of your family. There's a full bath just off the living room and a full-size stacked washer/dryer in a nearby closet.  A flatscreen, smart tv is in the living room for your entertainment enjoyment and a window air conditioner is provided to ensure comfortable sleeping during those occasional warm nights.

The main house is connected by the stone patio to Barrett's Watch Retreat - a beautiful, upstairs apartment. Here you'll find a cozy, light-filled living room with a large blue couch and neutral armchair. Enjoy your favorite show on the flatscreen, smart TV as you enjoy a quiet night.   Just to the left is the intimate kitchen and dining area. Eat your breakfast at the four-seat dining room table or your prep your dinner in the full kitchen, which features bountiful counter space and a large fridge.  

This home has one bedroom with a lovely queen bed enveloped in a neutral coverlet with pops of light blue throughout. There's also a full bath just down the hall, as well as a sofabed for additional accommodations. 

Guests have access to free WiFi, cable TV, a fire pit surrounded by adirondack chairs, and a stone patio with a gas grill.  Barrett's Park is across the road and features a dining gazebo, small beach, and plenty of grassy areas for picnics, sunbathing or watching lobster boats come and go. Play frisbee or boat watch. It's all here. 

Well behaved, small pets are considered.



Boothbay Harbor is one of the top vacation destinations in all of Maine. You get great beaches, schooner excursions, whale-watching tours, and hiking spots galore. There are plenty of places in town to enjoy fresh lobstah (as the locals would say!) or any of the other fresh fish.

Boat Tours
Boothbay Harbor has been referred to as the Boating Capital of New England. With over 25 daily boat excursions leaving right from the bustling harbor, there is an adventure waiting for travellers of all ages! Harbor tours are a great way to explore the area and see nearby islands, like Burnt Island and further out to sea Monhegan Island. There are also many excursions that offer up close and personal encounters with Maine wildlife like puffins, seals and even whales! Enjoy a romantic sunset schooner or speeding windjammer ride led by captains who have sailed all over the world. Visitors can also check out local boat yards to see the tradition of world-class boat building that is still alive today.

Boothbay Harbor is recognized for having some of the best sea kayaking in Maine. With water ranging from open seas to more calm and protected rivers and inlets, there are plenty of opportunities for kayakers of all ages and skill levels. You can bring your own kayak or get a rental at one of the many nearby shops. These rental shops also offer guided tours of the area, for kayakers to explore nearby islands or just paddle around the harbor at their leisure.

Monhegan Island
If you are staying in Boothbay Harbor and have some extra time, a trip to nearby Monhegan Island may be worth your while. Monhegan is a small rocky island approximately ten miles off the coast of Boothbay Harbor, accessible by ferry. With no paved roads, cars or streetlights and limited shops and inns, Monhegan is a unique escape from bustling towns. The wooded Island is blessed with 17 miles of beautiful walking trails for any nature-lover to enjoy; but paths can be rough and rocky so remember to wear sensible shoes and consult local trail maps before setting off. The Lighthouse on Monhegan was built in 1824 and is still actively shining. Views from the Lighthouse site are incredible, as one can see the entire village, harbor, mainland and nearby islands. The former lighthouse keeper's house is now a museum focusing on the history and culture of the island.

Nature Walks and Hiking Trails
Boothbay itself is also home to over a dozen stunning nature trails. The Boothbay Region Land Trust preserves over 20 miles of hiking trails for visitors to enjoy year-round. Trails range from easy to challenging and are suitable for visitors of all ages. Trek through scenic meadowlands, forests, wetlands and rocky coastline that all make up beautiful Boothbay - you may even encounter some real Maine wildlife! Kids and adults will enjoy a visit to the Boothbay Railway Village, celebrating over 100 years of operation. Maine State Aquarium
